Many cars have been produced over the years that left a lasting impression. In some cases it takes years if not decades for a vehicle to earn a ‘classic’ status, however some vehicles are so incredible that they instantly become modern classics. The Jaguar E-Type was launched in 1961 and ever since then it has remained a favourite among car enthusiasts. Its fun and bold appearance have earned it critical acclaim and praise throughout the years.
When it comes to British sports cars, Jaguar is arguably the most popular as it has been around for a very long time and it proved through its vehicles that it knows exactly what it’s doing. There aren’t many brands in the world that can match Jaguar’s incredible vehicles and the Jaguar E-Type is a great example of just how fantastic the brand is.
Not only was the E-Type fantastic-looking but it was also quite powerful at the time. Of course vehicles that were once considered powerful are no longer viewed as such today. The advancements in technology have allowed manufactures to push the boundaries and produce vehicles more powerful than people back in the day could have even imagined.
Powered by a 3.6-litre XK l6 engine capable of producing 265bhp (198 kW) and reaching a top speed of 150mph (241 km/h), the series 1 E-Type offered quite a fun driving experience. Over the years, different versions of the car came with different engine options. It was originally available as a coupe, a 2+2 coupe and a roadster however with the coupe was discontinues in 1971, when the third generation E-Type was introduced.
A couple of limited edition E-Types were also introduced throughout the cars production run. Although they each offered something different, they all shared the same aesthetic that made the E-Type unique.
The vehicle remained in production until 1975 after which, it was discontinued and replaced with the XJS and F-Type, which still remains in production today.
Whether you’re a fan of the brand or not, there’s no denying that the E-Type was a fantastic-looking vehicle that offered something completely unique.
